This year, International Cement Review (ICR) presented the Cement Industry Awards to acknowledge the outstanding achievement of individuals, teams, and organizations for their exceptional performance across a range of cement sector activities. We are proud to share the news that Petuum, along with our customer CEMEX, was awarded the “Project of the Year” award for the implementation of Petuum Industrial Artificial Intelligence (AI) at CEMEX plants.

ICR announced the award winners at Cemtech’s annual Europe conference hosted in Berlin, Germany, from September 30 – October 2. This international cement conference features participants from over 30 nations covering the most up-to-date sustainability and technology trends with expert presentations on best-practice cement manufacturing. “The Cement Project of the Year” was awarded to the best cement industry project that demonstrated innovation, engineering excellence, and exceptional project design and execution.

Before receiving the award, Petuum and CEMEX also took the stage to present “Utilizing artificial intelligence to achieve end-to-end operator-supervised autonomous cement operations” at Cemtech Europe. Petuum AVP of Industrial AI Prabal Acharyya and CEMEX Operations Digital Technologies Manager, Rodrigo Quintero showed the audience how AI plays a key part in CEMEX’s digital transformation journey. Since deploying Petuum Industrial AI, CEMEX has seen yield improvements and energy savings up to 7% along with reduced emissions ensuring their plants are continuously meeting their operational and sustainability goals.
